Company History

GWA International Limited (“GWAIL”) was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 20 May 1993, and comprised the business divisions of Caroma, Sebel, Rover, T H Martin and Poolrite. These businesses were previously owned by Queensland’s Anderson family who privatised the former public company, GWA Limited, in 1989.

GWAIL has grown significantly since listing through the growth of its businesses, as well as through acquisitions. The following is a history of the acquisitions and divestments of the Group since listing:

1995

Gainsborough Hardware Industries Limited was acquired in June 1995, and has become a market leader in a comprehensive range of door security products and door handles.


1996

The T H Martin business was sold in September 1996.


1997

GWAIL acquired the James Hardie Bathroom Products Division in March 1997. As a result, Fowler sanitaryware, Irwell taps and Dux hot water systems were added to the Group’s range of products.


1999

Poolrite Equipment Pty Ltd was sold in June 1999.

GWAIL acquired the Email Kitchen and Bathroom Products Division in March 1999, which included Clark stainless steel sinks and Dorf tapware.

Wisa Beheer BV of the Netherlands was acquired in June 1999. Wisa designs and produces cisterns and plastic bathroom products. Wisa operates in the Netherlands and Germany.


2001

 The Stylus Bathroom and Kitchen Products business was acquired in March 2001. The Stylus range of products includes baths, spa baths, sanitaryware


2009

 Austral Lock was acquired in January 2009. Austral Lock is a leading Australian manufacturer of locks for the residential security door and patio door markets.

   

2010

Brivis was acquired in April 2010.  Brivis is a leading Australian designer, manufacturer and distributor of ducted climate systems for the residential market.

The Rover Mowers business was sold in April 2010.

   
2010 The Wisa Beheer business was sold in May 2010.
